Harrogate Boxing Club – Terms of Participation
By attending any session, class, coaching session, sparring activity, or event run by Harrogate Boxing Club, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Participation at Own Risk
All boxing, fitness, exercise, sparring, drills, pad work, and physical activity carry an inherent risk of injury.
By attending, you participate at your own risk.
Harrogate Boxing Club, its coaches, volunteers, staff, and representatives accept no liability for injury, illness, loss, damage, accident, or death arising from participation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
2. Medical Conditions & Fitness to Train
By attending, you confirm that:
You are medically fit to participate.
You have disclosed any injuries, health conditions, or limitations that may affect training.
You will stop immediately if you feel unwell or injured.
You understand training may aggravate pre-existing conditions.
If unsure, seek medical advice before participating.
3. Personal Responsibility
You agree to:
Follow all coach instructions.
Train safely and respectfully.
Use equipment correctly.
Notify staff of injuries or concerns.
Not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Harrogate Boxing Club may refuse entry or remove anyone behaving dangerously or inappropriately.
4. England Boxing Affiliation / Sparring Rules
Harrogate Boxing Club operates in line with recognised amateur boxing standards and safeguarding expectations.
Where required, participants must comply with England Boxing affiliation, medical, safeguarding, and eligibility rules relevant to the activity being undertaken.
This includes (where applicable):
Active England Boxing membership / affiliation
Valid medical requirements as required by England Boxing
Appropriate coach approval
Suitable experience level
Correct protective equipment
No participant may take part in sparring, competitive training, or controlled contact activities unless approved by club coaches and compliant with relevant England Boxing requirements.
The club reserves the right to restrict sparring or contact training at any time for safety reasons.
5. Minors / Under 18s
Parents or guardians confirm that any participant under 18 is fit to participate and accept these terms on their behalf.
All junior sessions remain subject to safeguarding policies and coach supervision.
6. Contact Sport Disclaimer
Boxing may involve contact drills, bag work, pads, conditioning, partner exercises, and sparring.
Risks may include bruising, cuts, sprains, concussion, and other injuries.
Participation in contact activities is voluntary and subject to coach approval.
7. Property & Valuables
All belongings are brought onto the premises at your own risk.
The club accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
8. Payments / Bookings / Refunds
Session fees and coaching bookings are generally non-refundable unless agreed otherwise.
Missed sessions or cancellations may not be refunded.
9. Session Changes
The club may amend timetables, pricing, coaches, or cancel sessions where necessary.
10. Photography / Media
Photos or videos may occasionally be taken for coaching or promotional use. Please notify staff if you do not wish to appear.
11. Acceptance of Terms
By attending any session, entering the gym, or making a booking, you confirm that:
You have read and accepted these terms.
You understand the risks involved.
You participate voluntarily.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
